Several months ago, a neighbor asked me to help her look for 300 piece puzzles, which have larger pieces. On Amazon, Ebay, and Marketplace they are easy to find. Over the past several months I've been able to deliver several puzzles to my friend/neighbor. Recently, she invited me to work one with her. Puzzling and conversation was a perfect way to spend a winter evening. She has been a model of neighboring for the past 21 years. One of the most appreciated acts of kindness are the fabulous pies she delivers. 

Look around your neighborhood. Are there fun things you can do together or small acts of kindness that you can deliver?    Neighboring matters!

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS Submitted by Deana Tucker Dothage, March 26, 2024 The beautiful woman in this photograph is my mother, Alice. The picture was taken in 2019 during a trip to Oklahoma. In 2024 she turned 94 years old. From mid 30's to retirement , she was a career woman, and before that a mother of four. After she retired, she worked in my insurance agency taking on the bookkeeping and payroll.  During her late 80's to now, she has had some health setbacks, and recently, a terrible fall resulting in multiple broken bones. After a brief hospital stay to treat wounds, she is home with me and my brother, where she has lived for the past 13 years.  As neighbors learned that she left and returned by ambulance, they started reaching out to find out what was wrong and if we needed anything. CHILDHOOD NEIGHBOR, LIFELONG FRIEND - THE VALUE OF NEIGHBORING

  Pat and Deana, December 2023, spending time with Pat's family Pat and Deana at Sibley Hall, Lindenwood University December 2023, remembering the late 1970's. ,   Meeting a neighbor and investing time in getting to know them has the possibility of lasting a lifetime. The possibility of making a difference. 60 years ago, my mom, brothers, and I moved into old town St. Charles, Missouri. Soon, Pat and I met as our backyards were across the alley from one another. The 3-year age difference did not matter. Pat and I both had 3 siblings. We spent a lot of time at each other’s houses and got to know each other’s families. Our birthdays are 2 days apart. For many years, Pat’s mother invited me over for dinner on the day between our birthdays. She fixed my favorite meal, baked a cake, and gave me presents.
