Love is:
Love is:
Today, while stopping for gas in Warrenton, I ran into a man I’ve known for years but hadn’t seen in a long time. He was buying a fountain soda, and after we caught up for a bit, he invited me outside to say hello to his wife. She didn’t remember me — and gently shared that she doesn’t remember many things these days. He didn’t apologize for her or explain her memory loss. He simply said, “She asked me to take her out to get her a soda, so I did.”
They’re both retired now, once well-known in the community for their professional roles. But in that small exchange, what stood out wasn’t who they used to be — it was who they still are to each other. His tenderness, his steadiness, his willingness to meet her exactly where she is… it spoke of decades of shared life and unwavering devotion.
